 American Baptist Women

AB Women is a group of about 8 to 10 ladies that meet every month. Recently they have decorated 15 school kits to send to Church World Service for distribution to children in disaster areas. Some were very creative in decoration the bags, making them a treasure for the boy or girl who will receive them. Through other giving they were able to send $200 to a mission hospital in Cong, $100 to repair a roof at the Kodiak mission in Alaska, provide 60 rolled bandages, 2 baby blankets and 2 baby gowns to the Congo.

To assist the Kearns Canyon Community Church on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona, books, toys and Christmas wrap were sent in the fall. A box of needles, thread, knitting needles, yarn, men's socks, underwear, sweatshirt, sweatpants, baby blankets, soap, towels, toothpaste, tooth brush, dish towels, patchwork pieces and a football are being prepared to send.

As willing workers, these ladies have cleaned the kitchen cupboards, and the church nursery. In April they will spend a morning working at the Christian Resource Center in Fowlerville.

Special thanks to those who contribute and serve in this way. Your work and time is appreciated as a ministry of this church body.

Thank you AB (American Baptist) Women.

CRI Update - June, 2007

On May 17th four women went to CRI (Christian Resource International) to work with whatever they needed for them to do. The ABW have been going to CRI for many years. We miss Lois Belt, Gladys Pittard and Betty Welch, who were so faithful in attendance.

CRI is located in Fowlerville. They are a resource for missionaries and are always in a need for Christian books and Bibles to set up libraries within their missions.

We took 306 pounds and there are more books ready to be delivered. Thanks to each one

who sent books and Bibles. In April, with lots of help, we tied off a 'Quilt for Charlie'. Many women pieced blocks together and Joyce Lyons assembled them. It will be on display soon.

Thanks to each one who gave money for postage and our $200 quota. Packages were sent to South Africa and the Philippines. At home we sent packages to Indianapolis, Indiana to AB Christian Center.
