New Living Translation

Our Pew Bibles were dedicated in memory of one of our beloved church members, Irma Moore, who has gone to be with the Lord.

Using the New Living Translation in sermon preparation helps to generate ‘aha’s! from the congregation. Where there may be obscurity, it can help turn the light on in the hearts and minds of listeners.”

Arthur Jackson, Judson Baptist Church - Oak Park, Illinois

Note: The previous Pew Bibles will continue to honor God in other ministry areas. Thank you to the Pollack family for their contribution of the previous Pew Bibles - which brought many blessings to the people of West Highland.

If you are interested in a good daily devotional magazine, please pick up a copy of Our Daily Bread. You will find them in the Narthex or the pews.

In February, 2006, the church voted to adopt a new Purpose Statement, placing it in our constitution. We also agreed on a new "Vision" for the church, which could be described as, "what we want the church to be like in the future".

To mark the occasion, and physically demonstrate our committment to the new Purpose and Vision, we constructed a stone altar, which was displayed at the front of the sanctuary. It was a symbol of our desire to work together toword a common vision, within the filter of a clearly stated purpose. "We’ve got an opportunity today. You’ve got your stones. Here’s your choice. Join me and leave your stones on the altar. And in doing it, say: “Today we recognize that God want’s to start something new. God want’s to start something new HERE, and we’re going to be a part of it...”

For more information about the stones, see the "Vision Team" page, and click on "The Rock".
